PROFESSIONAL BIO
Mr. Jonathan is a dedicated music educator, composer, and performer with over 15 years of experience teaching piano, guitar, and songwriting. Throughout his career, he has worked with students of all ages, adapting his teaching methods to fit individual needs and learning styles. His passion for helping students discover their potential as musicians is evident in the personalized instruction he provides, fostering a love for music while building technical skills. Mr. Jonathan’s ability to communicate complex musical concepts in an engaging and accessible way has allowed countless students to thrive, whether they are beginners or more advanced learners. His approach emphasizes not only musical growth but also personal development, helping students gain confidence and a deeper appreciation for the art form.
In addition to his private teaching experience, Mr. Jonathan currently oversees the music program at Friends Community Church in Brea, California, where he leads a team of over 50 volunteers with varying levels of musical ability. He provides coaching and support tailored to each volunteer's experience, guiding them to excel in their roles within the church's music ministry. As part of his leadership, he has developed an internship program for high school students interested in pursuing music professionally, offering them mentorship and hands-on experience. Mr. Jonathan’s work at the church extends beyond teaching; he also plans and organizes special events, including denomination-wide worship conferences, which allow him to combine his passion for education with his commitment to community engagement.
Mr. Jonathan’s career is built on a strong foundation of academic and practical experience. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition from Oklahoma Baptist University, followed by a Master’s in Film Scoring. His commitment to lifelong learning continues as he pursues a Master of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary, focusing on leadership in times of change. His diverse background in both music education and church leadership has allowed him to effectively mentor students, volunteers, and aspiring musicians, creating environments where both creativity and growth can flourish.
