Amber Liekhus is a passionate and well-rounded vocal instructor with over 15 years of experience. In addition to her private students, Amber has musically directed operas and musicals for children in the Los Angeles area. She was a Teaching Artist for the Los Angeles opera where she taught shortened versions of well-known operas to dozens of elementary schools in LA and Orange County.

 

Ms. Amber has taught students from all over the world including Mumbai and Cairo! Her students have excelled in opera, musical theatre, and pop music. Many of them began studying with Amber at the age of 6 and are now studying music and theatre at universities including NYU and AMDA in New York City. 

 

Once described as a “…versatile singer, whose voice is at once regal and affectionate…" (Los Angeles Times), this proud Pepperdine alum has had an exciting and successful career performing professionally for nearly two decades. Since graduating from Pepperdine, Amber has performed all over the US and abroad, at sea and on land in musicals, operas, national commercials and films. Some of her musical theater credits include: Annie at The Hollywood Bowl, Sweet Charity with Reprise 2.0, Blues in the Night at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Ain't Misbehavin' with McCoy Rigby Entertainment, and Rent - also with McCoy Rigby. Amber was honored to be a member of the original cast of Frozen: Live at the Hyperion at Disney California Adventure and was also a cast member in Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular also at Disney California Adventure. Some of her opera credits include: Queen of El Dorado in Candide at Los Angeles Opera, the title role in Suor Angelica with Opera Festival di Roma in Rome, Italy, the Old Woman in David Lang's Difficulty of Crossing a Field at Long Beach Opera, Lily in Porgy and Bess at both San Francisco Opera and Los Angeles Opera. Amber was a featured singer in the film, You Can't Fight Christmas directed by Kenny Young; For Love of Liberty: The Story of America’s Black Patriots directed by Frank Martin; and The Bloody Indulgent directed by Ken Roht. Amber has also appeared in several commercials for Old Navy, J.C. Penney, and Samsung.
