ABOUT THE TEACHER
PROFESSIONAL BIO
Ms. Irene is a dedicated and skilled music therapist with a Master of Music Education in Music Therapy from the University of Kansas, where she graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Her thesis explored clinical musicianship through improvisation, aimed at advancing academic and clinical training. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music in Worship from Biola University, where she graduated summa cum laude and developed her expertise as a teaching assistant and worship leader.
Her clinical experience includes extensive work with diverse populations, from pediatric patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital to adolescents in juvenile detention and adults with developmental disabilities. As a board-certified music therapist, Ms. Irene has supported clients in hospitals, outpatient facilities, and educational settings, tailoring therapy to meet various emotional, social, and developmental goals. She currently facilitates individual and group sessions at McKee Music Therapy Services, focusing on therapeutic growth and musical engagement.
Ms. Irene’s teaching background includes music instruction at the Western International School of Shanghai, where she led group classes, arranged school performances, and provided bilingual piano lessons. She is also an experienced accompanist, performing at community events, worship services, and special functions.
